Manage Your Own Content

Starting to manage your content is a fundamental shift in approach to maintaining a website. In addition to the significant cost savings you make when you don't rely on a 3rd party for updates, the freedom to add content and correct mistakes when and where you like is a liberating experience.

The quality and vibrancy of your content will improve as you can respond in real time, via your website, to events which affect your business.

Managed Service

Because Coreware develop, install, host and manage ContentCore, your quality of service is guaranteed. All the benefits of HostingCore are included at no extra charge, making it ideal for organisations with limited or no technical resources.

The effort you put into selecting a CMS will be wasted unless it's quality is matched by your hosting company. Co-ordinating multiple suppliers is labour intensive, requires significant technical skill and runs a high risk of incompatibilities between your CMS and your hosting environment.

Scalable

When choosing a CMS you should be confident that it can scale. Having to migrate content to a new product because your website has outgrown your CMS is a costly process. ContentCore has been designed to scale so it will meet your content management demands as they grow from a handful of pages to a large website.

Increased size and demand requires scalable hosting infrastructure. As a managed service, ContentCore benefits from the scalable HostingCore platform.

Web Browser Administration System

The ContentCore administration system is accessed using a standard web browser. This makes it quick and easy to distribute work amongst users and is ideal for geographically dispersed organisations.

There's no software to install, you can manage your content wherever you have access to a web browser, and unlike many CMS products upgrades are included at no additional cost.

The user interface itself supports non-technical users allowing them to create and manage website content. 'Power users' can always edit HTML directly for maximum control.

For security and to prevent unauthorised access, all users require a login and password to access the administration system.

Layered Architecture

ContentCore uses a layered software architecture to create a clear separation of job roles which improves your efficiency by allowing staff to focus on their key skills.

Graphic designers can focus on design without being distracted by having to edit content. Writers can focus on developing content without being hindered by design issues.

Content Layer

Content itself is stored in a relational database. Separating the content from any specific presentation is the most flexible way to use it in multiple contexts.

For example, we developed a website with multiple presentations to meet accessibility guidelines. All versions are generated from the same content which saved our client time and money.

Presentation Layer

The presentation layer uses programmable templates and Cascading Style Sheets to allow multiple 'views' of content from the content layer.

A branding change is a common scenario that highlights the benefits of the presentation layer. In the absence of a layered approach, such a change often means a complete website overhaul with all of the associated costs. ContentCore would isolate the branding changes in the presentation layer, limiting the redevelopment to graphic design. This flexibility in the face of change delivers further time and cost savings.

Administration Layer

We use the administration layer to create a content management interface to suit your technical skills and your particular content.

Workflow

As websites grow, workflow features are essential for delegating editorial tasks. Workflow helps to make your website a business communication channel, not just an afterthought.

The installation of a CMS in itself can act as a catalyst to review and improve your workflows. ContentCore goes further and improves quality control by providing specific workflow points for content creation, approval and publishing.

The permissioning system lets you delegate and authorise tasks to users.

Version Control

ContentCore allows multiple versions of the same page. For example, you might have a page with three versions:

  • the live page on the website
  • a new version which has been developed and is awaiting editorial approval
  • a future version which is still in production.

You also have the ability to revert to any previous version of a page.

Plugins

ContentCore has an increasing number of plugin modules for managing common types of content. Current plugins include:

  • FAQ manager
  • Contact directory manager
  • Event calendars
  • Glossary manager
  • Bibliography manager
Navigation

ContentCore comes with a flexible mechanism for providing users with essential usability navigation mechanisms such as menus and breadcrumb trails.

Custom Features

We have extensive experience in custom solutions so we can easily extend ContentCore to match your specific requirements.
